Introducing the Broomshop Gals!
WELCOME TO THE BROOMSHOP
Changes are happening here at Hearth Craft Brooms, and I’m so excited to share them with you! This October, we celebrated our fifth anniversary—a huge milestone for my little shop. As many of you know, I’ve been running this business solo while also mothering two small children full-time and being the primary earner for my family. Needless to say, I needed help, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ve finally added a few wonderful people to my little shop coven.
This small but mighty team has already made such a difference, smoothing out operations and giving me the space to focus on what I love most: crafting brooms and designing new, creative pieces. For you, this means more frequent restocks, a workshop schedule planned months in advance, and faster responses to inquiries or “oopsies” that occasionally happen. It also means my mental load has lightened significantly—things like website updates and admin tasks that once consumed my time are now handled seamlessly.
This crew has truly become my physical, mental, and emotional support system, and I’m so grateful for them. I wanted to give you this little peek behind the scenes, and I hope you’ll feel the impact of these changes in every aspect of Hearth Craft Brooms moving forward. Thank you for growing with me!
TERRA
the packaging witch
Meet Terra, our resident goblin/goddess of all things Shipping & Handling and the ultimate shop organizer. Without her, this place would be a full-on chaos castle! Terra is the mastermind behind beautifully and carefully packaging your kits and brooms. Her unmatched attention to detail ensures your treasures arrive safely while looking as stunning as possible.
With expert Tetris-like skills, she ethically economizes our package sizes, solving puzzles to benefit both you and the environment. Terra is also full of brilliant ideas and often delivers the most hilarious shop “quote of the day.” Her most recent, “All these brooms and we’re still flying by the seat of our pants!” She has a knack for hoarding the most specific (and often bizarre) pieces of knowledge and can sometimes burst into several excited sentences before I even realize she’s speaking English.
Her newest role taps into her unique aesthetic, helping plan and color-mix broomcorn for upcoming workshops and restocks. If you’ve ever opened one of our packages and been delighted by the special details, you have Terra to thank!
ROBIN
the hedge witch apprentice
Robin appeared out of the mists with her beautiful, calming energy and a deep passion for learning the art of broom-making. From the start, she seamlessly blended into the shop vibe, quickly absorbing the nuances of this historic craft. I was immediately impressed by her ability to pull tension in her line and create tight, detailed weaves on her handles—a natural talent that’s rare to see.
Though she’s not in the shop often, when she is, Robin becomes our unofficial therapist, always checking in on our mental health and reminding us to care for ourselves. She’s been a wonderful addition to the team, always eager to lend a hand with anything. I can’t wait to start offering some of Robin’s brooms in the future—stay tuned for our Apprentice Collections!
RIO
thought catcher + task mommy
This Fire Witch was my very first employee a few years ago, stepping into the shop during the pandemic to help with shipping a few hours a week. We became fast friends, but she eventually left for a job in the “big kid” world. Now, I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Rio back as my second brain!
Rio takes on a little bit of everything, but her primary magic is managing the desk-job side of this business. With her here, I can dream up big-picture ideas knowing she’s capturing and organizing them while my chaotic brain skips ahead 20 steps. She’s the Mistress of a million lists and the spiderweb keeping me tethered to schedules, on track, and beautifully organized so I can float off into creative bliss.
In addition to tackling my administrative duties, Rio has an uncanny knack for decoding the ephemeral algorithms of social media. Her filming, editing, and posting skills have been a game-changer, inspiring me to create and share content more regularly. Her mirthful, joyful energy—balanced with just the right “dose of reality”—keeps us all grounded. (Though Terra and I have been known to sneak around like teenagers, afraid Task Mommy might tell us “No!”)
In just three months, Rio has improved every facet of my business—and honestly, my life. Thank her for making my brain a more manageable place to live and for caring about Hearth Craft Brooms as if it were her own.
As I reflect on this season of growth and transformation, I find myself filled with immense gratitude for my little coven of broomshop witches. They’ve stepped into the chaos of this business with open hearts, nimble hands, and sharp minds, bringing structure to my dreams and support to my everyday challenges. Each of them, in their unique way, makes my life not just easier but richer and more joyful. Their dedication allows me to focus on the magic of creating while they weave the threads that hold everything else together.
With their help, I’ve been able to dream bigger and plan more intentionally for the future of Hearth Craft Brooms. From smoother operations to a more robust workshop schedule and the ability to bring you new designs, their influence is already rippling outward. These changes may feel like small shifts, but they’re paving the way for a more sustainable and connected future for this shop I hold so dear.
To my larger broom community: I hope you’ll join me in welcoming this incredible team and the changes they help bring. Their energy, creativity, and care are infused into everything we do, and I can’t wait for you to experience the ways their work enriches this craft and our connection with you. Thank you for your continued support—it’s because of you that this little coven can keep growing and thriving. Here's to the next chapter, together!
Thank you for everything,
Alyssa
