Persephone & Hades: The Lovers Series #1
The very first of our Lovers Series, this Collector’s broom tells the story of Persephone’s descent into the Underworld, encapsulating her abduction and entrapment by Hades while acknowledging the complex evolution of their romance. As she descends, the chains of Hades’ control entwine around her, weaving himself and the chthonic power of the Underworld into her being. As she descends further into the depths, Persephone comes to embrace Hades and her infernal Queendom.
A mixture of faded blacks, greys, and purples make up a slender and elongated bristle on a crooked, serpentine handle, evoking the attenuated and lifeless form of Hades. Woven together over the bristle a gradient of purples, reds, and pinks depict the complex relationship between Persephone’s innocence and passion, free will and fate.
Inspiration for these choices was drawn both from Hades and Megara in Disney’s animated film Hercules, as well as Hades and Persephone in the modern and visually stunning show KAOS.
