Broomcraft Weekend: Spring Cleaning Set - March 29 & 30
Photos are examples from past work and will be updated
Join me for a special weekend of broom-making as we welcome the energy of spring renewal! On March 29 & 30, we’ll meet via Zoom at 10am Pacific Time to craft your choice of a Round Set or Flat Set of three brooms. Each set is designed as a spring cleaning collection, perfect for refreshing and cleansing your space. The set includes a Whisk (Round or Stitched), a second Whisk (Turkey Wing or Hawk Tail), and a larger broom (Porch or Hearth Broom).
Your kit will include supplies for both styles, so you can decide which to craft once it arrives. I’ll also be introducing solid wrapping for the first time—an exciting and versatile technique that creates a strong, polished broom. Together, we’ll explore traditional skills like foot-brake tension winding and stitching, while diving into the history and purpose of each broom type.
This hands-on, immersive weekend is perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike. Let’s celebrate the season’s themes of renewal and create a meaningful, handcrafted set of brooms to bring both magic and function into your home this spring!
What’s Included:
Every workshop includes broom-making kits shipped to you in advance, as well as access to pre-recorded demo videos to watch or re-watch at your convenience!
Each kit will contain natural broomcorn, colored twine of your choice for solid wrapping (you will choose one color for the set) and stitchhing , as well as a natural hardwood handle, stitching clamp, and stitching needle.
Simple Whisk: We will be making a “naked” Turkey Wing or Hawk Tail style whisk, perfect for countertops, by the toaster, or inside cupboards.
