Broomcraft Weekend: The Kitchen Set - December 7 & 8
Kickstart your broom-making journey with this immersive weekend of virtual workshops! Join me at 10am Pacific Time via Zoom, December 7th and 8th for a quick trip through Kitchen Essentials. During two engaging sessions, you’ll explore the art of crafting a Pot Scrubber, a Mini Simple Whisk, a Stitched Whisk, and a quintessential Cobwebber—essential for skill building and creating a varied collection.
In this hands-on workshop series, you’ll practice traditional broom-making techniques like weaving, foot-brake tension winding, and lots of stitching, while diving into the history and versatility of each broom type. Whether you’re just starting out or expanding your skills, this weekend is the perfect way to begin creating your own handcrafted set of household essentials.
What’s Included:
Every workshop includes broommaking kits, shipped to you in advance, as well as access to pre-recorded demo videos to watch or re-watch at your convenience!
Each kit will contain natural broomcorn and black twine for tying your bristles, colored twine of your choice for stitching (you will choose one color for the set), as well as a natural hardwood handle, stitching clamp, and stitching needle.
Mini Simple Whisk: We will be making a “naked” Turkey Wing or Hawk Tail style whisk, perfect for countertops, by the toaster, or inside cupboards.
Stitched Whisks: This hand whisk has a nice flat edge that is perfect for the dustpan, countertop, and anywhere in between!
Cobwebber: Create a slender, lightweight broom for all those high up and hard-to-reach places! This style is incredibly versatile; no home should be without one.
Pot Scrubber: You will find out the perfect way to utilize the ends of your broomcorn to make this handy little kitchen scrubber.
What You'll Gain:
A deep understanding of broom-making in a short time
Mastery of foundational skills
A collection of quality brooms for any home, whether keeping or gifting
