Witches' Cottage Sweeper - Virtual Workshop - January 10 & 12

This workshop will take place on Zoom on two separate days; on the first day, Friday January 10 at 10am PST, we’ll learn to attach the bristle to the stick. This portion will take about 2 hours. The second day, Sunday January 12 at 10am PST, we will stitch and weave our brooms. This portion can take up to three hours. In the days between, your bristle will dry before stitching.
Your kit will include:
- approximately 1lb of broomcorn of your choice (natural, black, or mixed)
- a kiln-dried PNW hardwood handle
- broomcorn stalks for weaving
- tarred twine for constructing your bristle
- colored twine of your choice for stitching and weaving
- a stitching clamp
- a stitching needle
- workshop prep cards
Other tools you will need:
- a drill
- a lighter
- a dowel to use as your foot brake
- a sharp knife
- sharp scissors
- a hand towel
- a lidded container for soaking your stalks
- a container for soaking the top 8” of your broomcorn (the stiff ends)
You will be prompted to select your broomcorn and twine colors after you click “purchase”
Cost includes the custom kit, admission to the Zoom class, and recorded demos.
